We are the proud new owners of this beauty:
Isn’t it the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen!?! I’m scared to death of it.
It’s a 37 inch Sharp Aquos. I don’t think we’ll ever get off the couch again.

Sorry about that! We’ve been moderately busy around here, nothing too crazy. Phil has been travellling a lot. This week Miami, last week Chicago…which means Simon and I have been flying by the seat of our pants, not doing a whole lot. Eating lots of mac and cheese.
Phil and I bought our Christmas present to ourselves, a new bedroom set! It will be delivered next week and I will take pictures then. It is GORGEOUS. I loooove it.
Speaking of Christmas, Simon is getting so excited about it! He’s so fun this year! Of course, it helps that his mom is more in the spirit this year and actually decorated for once (see Flickr pictures ———–>). He’s been to see Santa and apparently all he wants is a "tow truck".
And, I got a fantabulous early Christmas gift today from my parents- I am so impressed with them! It’s actually for me and Phil (he’s not here but the box did say to open immediately). It’s from www.cincyfavorites.com. It’s the "Cincy Favorites" package: Two slabs of Montgomery Inn ribs, one bottle of Montgomery Inn barbecue sauce- and we got bibs too!, one Larosa’s lasagna, one Larosa’s meatballs, a can of Larosa’s pizza sauce, two pints of Graeter’s ice cream (black raspberry chip and chocolate chip), twelve Busken cookies, two cans of Skyline Chili, a box of Skyline oyster crackers, peppermint patties, and hot sauce. I almost cried when I opened the box- all my favorites! Too bad Phil might not make it back in time to enjoy any of the ice cream or cookies.
Home again…for a few days anyway
We made it back from Birmingham! Actually, we never even saw B’ham, we stayed in Helena where our friends live. A good time was had by all. And many beers drank. No different than hanging out in a garage in Saint Joe! I do have some pictures but don’t have time to get them loaded tonight…hopefully before our next roadtrip, which will be Wednesday. This time Simon and I are venturing to Cincinnati. Whew. Just enough time to unpack and then pack again. Yes, we are driving. Just he and I. Should be fun.
This weekend, my friend Amy and I went shopping (with Simon) while Phil and Scott installed Phil’s new XM radio.
We got to listen to it on the way home for the first time. Coolest.thing.ever. I want one.
Also, while Amy and I shopped, we went to Sephora (what a great store) and I finally splurged and bought some Bare Minerals makeup. Also a very cool thing. As they used to say on The Swan, "::sob:: I’m so beautiful!!!" Okay, maybe not. But it helps.
I hope to be back online with more pictures soon!
Birmingham, AL that is…
We’re making a pilgrimage to the winningest town in AI history this weekend! Okay, so that’s not why we’re going. we are going to visit our dear friends Scott and Amy. If we’re lucky we’ll get some more mooshy pictures of Phil and Scott snuggling. But only if we’re lucky.
We had a very low key Labor Day…spent most of it asking Simon every three seconds, "Gotta go Potty?" Ugh. The good news is, he’s doing a lot better! Nothing a few 5-8$ Thomas the Train die-cast engines can’t bribe our way out of. Oh, wait, am I not supposed to be resorting to bribery? Rats.
Folks, I have sunk to a new low in my adult life. Maybe it’s my impending birthday and I’m having a mid-life crisis. Maybe I needed some mindless entertainment in between potty breaks (for the kid, not me) this weekend. I created a Myspace page. Don’t laugh. I’ve actually gotten in touch with some good college friends that I’d lost touch with. That in itself is a good thing. If you would like to look at it and be my friend, feel free. But for the love of God, don’t send me a comment with naked people and sparkles and glitters and flashing lights. We are still adults.
Anyway, have a great weekend and I can’t wait to come back with pictures. Our last get-together with these friends was photo-op gold.
(Kudos if you get "steak sauce")
Phil and I had our big date in Memphis last night to see Marc Broussard perform (opening act was Dave Barnes, he was very good as well- and very pretty to look at). Oh. My. Goodness. He was incredible, not that I expected any less. He performed at Newby’s, which is a lot like the Canopy Club for any of you folks from Chambana. In other words, it’s an old movie theater that now is a bar and concert venue. Very dive-y, typical college bar, which was fun for us oldies. Actually, we were pleasantly surprised to not be the oldest people there.
There are really bad video clips downloaded to YouTube (I SWEAR that isn’t me screaming) and a bunch of poor quality photos on our Flickr page, but the highlight of my evening was this:

Yep, that’s me and the man himself. There’s also one of Phil with him on Flickr. I hate that the quality is so terrible but, well, it was late.
So the concert was great. We saw Marc a few times go between the bus and the hall, and he seemed very nice, the whole atmosphere gave the impression that he was very approachable. So me and my crazy self decided that I was going to meet this man by the end of the evening. I know I’ve raved about him a million times before on this site- he is so very talented. With all of the dime-a-dozen craptacular artists who are on the radio right now, I cannot understand why he isn’t outrageously popular. Anyway, by the end of the night, we were back in the bar part of Newby’s after the show, and I had had a few drinks by then, but I was still determined to say hello. We met some interesting folks who did know him and they said he would be back in before the bus left. Long story short, Phil and I were sitting with Trust Fund Ron (some smart-ass 22 year old we met, but he was nice) when I saw Marc talking to a couple of people outside. So I just walked right up to him and asked if he was, in fact, Marc (he had changed shirts since the show and he is much shorter than I expected, so I wasn’t positive it was him). I introduced myself and probably proceeded to make an ass of myself, going on and on about how great he is. He was very friendly though. I told him how much we appreciated listening to "Home" during our move to the Delta. He wanted to make sure that we enjoyed the show, and apologized that the show was cut short because it was ungodly hot in there. (And yes, he did break into Nelly’s "Hot in Herre" during the show). And, I can’t believe I did this, but I actually said "We cannot believe you are not more famous than you are." To which he laughed and I promised that have been telling people about him. So seriously, if you have not heard of him, look him up, buy his CDs, and if you ever have a chance, SEE HIM IN CONCERT. You won’t be disappointed. And I promised.
In the end, I asked him if I could introduce him to my husband and he said sure so we walked back into the bar, he met Phil, and we each had our pictures taken with him. I was a giddy schoolgirl the rest of the night.
So that was our weekend so far, I have to return my mom to Jackson tomorrow and we will be spending the day there, maybe going to the zoo or a museum or something. More pictures to follow!
Oh, and I forgot to post this earlier in the week- Phil was on the news! His company had a big Field Day on Tuesday where they bring in growers and the like, basically a big schmooze-fest. Anyway, it brings about 600 people into town, they do a big dinner, etc., and they had him speak on the news about what their company is doing. So apparently, not only did I meet a celebrity last night, I’m also married to one. Ha. I’m going to try to track down a video of it somewhere, maybe I’ll post it if I do.

Okay, so it’s not for me.
I’m participating in Blogathon 2006 (don’t make fun, it’s for a good cause) with some of my cohorts and am taking donations. So, if you’re feeling generous, follow this link to sponsor me. You can do lump sum or per hour blogged (I’m doing two- one post every 30 minutes, but my group is going for 24 hours).
I won’t bug you again, but I might make you feel really bad if you don’t donate.
I thank you for your support.
Happy 4th of July!
